AmaZulu are said to have parted ways with their DStv Diski Challenge coach Reneilwe Letsholonyane, whose side are languishing second from bottom of the table in the junior league.
However, Letsholonyane, who was the star at Kaizer Chiefs, won’t be without a job for long as he is linked to form part of the SA U20 technical team at South Africa Football Association (SAFA), according to a source.
Usuthu is said to have relieved Yeye after they lost 1-0 to Polokwane City in the Diski Challenge festival last weekend on Saturday.
It was Usuthu’s seventh loss on the bounce, leaving them second from bottom with just seven points after 14 matches played.
They have won only twice – beating Moroka Swallows and TS Galaxy, respectively. They have lost 11 matches, just one less than bottom side Polokwane City, with the Limpopo side sitting three points behind Usuthu.
This has led to Yeye being under pressure from the side, with sources telling this publication that he has been relieved of his duties.
The former Kaizer Chiefs star, after they lost to Polokwane City at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium last Saturday, insisted that his team are still in the building phase where results are often secondary for coaches.
“The importance of results at this level, is to give the boys the confidence,” said Letsholonyane, who recently obtained the CAF A Licence in Botswana.
“People don’t care about the process; people care about the results. But it is only us within the team that knows that we must be better first before we get the results.
“While that is happening, try and get results here and there so that the pressure from them can be reduced so that the learning can become easier in an easier environment.”
Usuthu are not a pushover club and Letsholonyane knew this when he took over at the beginning of this season. They won the DStv Diski Challenge title in the 2020/21 season under Siboniso Vilakazi, who is now the club’s assistant coach.
According to another source, Yeye was also not at training on Thursday and Friday ahead of their home game against Chippa United on Saturday.

“There will be people who will always give opinions and the reality is, AmaZulu is not doing well now and that is the reality,” admitted Letsholonyane.
“The fact is, we are not doing well. Fortunately, or unfortunately for me, I stick by the process. I want to help players to be better, I want players to be better for the senior team.
“Currently, we have 18 of our 25, 27 players that are playing their first season in the DDC this season. We are starting the team from afresh.”
This publication attempted to call Usuthu president Sandile Zungu but his phone just rang without answering.
