Julius Malema, the leader of South Africa’s opposition Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), says he would sooner die or retire from politics than accept the bigoted deportation of Africans. The fiery opposition leader was addressing media queries about whether his aggressive support for foreigners contributed to the EFF’s loss in recent local council elections.
Malema, on the other hand, called the demand that immigrants leave South Africa xenophobic. South Africa has attracted millions of Africans in quest of better chances in the continent’s largest economy. “To imply that foreigners must go is xenophobic.”
I’m ready to return home; I’m OK. I will never stand on a stage and condemn Africans. Malema told the journalists on Tuesday, “I will never do that.” “Let them go if it means votes will be lost.” I’m ready to return home. But I will not use my platform to appease the white minority by pointing a finger at my fellow African brothers. I see myself in a Nigerian, a Zimbabwean, a Congolese, or a Ghanaian.”
“Someone said to me ‘if you want us to vote for you, you must abandon this thing of foreigners’. Ah, nna I’m prepared to go home. I’ll never take a platform to denounce Africans. If it means votes are going then let them go!” @Julius_S_Malema said.

“So I’m supposed to go tell hungry Zimbabweans to leave here and go where?” he continued. To perish? “I’d rather die beside them than leave them to die alone.” I’m not willing to get on a stage and declare that immigrants must return home. I would prefer not to be South Africa’s president. I’ll be the president of my children’s school, and I’ll be practicing Cabinet there.
“If this has cost us municipalities money, and people tell me I have to quit, I will resign.” Please be aware that the position on Africa is same; it will not change. You’re asking me to make concessions on the EFF’s non-negotiable cardinal pillars. That is something I am unable to accomplish.” Malema has been a key voice in South Africa’s fight against xenophobia, a plague that has claimed the lives of hundreds of black people whenever violence has erupted.
