President Cyril Ramaphosa explains why the country remain on level 1 of adjusted risk strategy amid Covid-19 pandemic.
South Africa – 30 March 2021 just after few days South Africa celebrated 1 year anniversary of Covid-19, he explains why they country still remain under lockdown.
Many people were expected the worst out of the presidential national address flowing the rumours that they address comes with the country moving to level 3 or level 2.
As it has been said, all speculations that went viral in the country were not final, all final things were to be heard during the live stream address.
New level 1 restrictions in South Africa

There are strict restrictions to be proactive under level 1, which are as follows ;
1. The national curfew remains from midnight to 4am.
2. Public recreational spaces such as beaches, parks and dams will remain open, subject to strict health protocols, such as social distancing, mask-wearing.
3. Funerals remain restricted to a maximum of 100 people and with a two-hour limit on services.
4. Interprovincial travel will still be permitted
5. On-site sales at restaurants, shebeens and bars will be allowed, according to licensing conditions, up until 23:00.
During the address, President Ramaphosa explained that the cases have significantly dropped over the past week.
According to his statistics, the country has been getting an average of 1200 new cases a day, which is a very big improvement from what it was getting back in February and January.
That combined with the reduction of the number of deaths and hospitalisations didn’t allow the country to move to another level of the lockdown. The President explained that there wouldn’t be any harder restrictions than necessary.
