Cape Town City head coach Eric Tinkler feels Mamelodi Sundowns are “one level above everyone else” in the DStv Premiership and it’s almost impossible to catch them.
Taariq Fielies’ late goal secured all three points for City when they beat TS Galaxy 1-0 at DHL Stadium on Friday evening to climb into sixth place on the log.
After the match Tinker was asked if he thinks the title race is over, he mentioned that his side, who finished runners-up last season, were not even in contention for the league.
“I don’t think the title race even began with us, to be honest,” Tinkler told the media.
“I think Sundowns are too strong, to be honest, and watching all the teams watching them, I think they [are] just one level above everyone else at the moment.
“But that could change, but I doubt it very much you know, the gap is so big.”
Masandawana have amassed 43 points and second-placed Richards Bay are on 29 points after the halfway mark of the South African top-flight, while City sit in sixth with 23 points.
