Gallants had a rather indifferent season in 2022/23, while they were thriving in the CAF Confederation Cup reaching the semi-finals, they ended up getting relegated from the DStv Premiership. After that, it was clear that some of their top players were going to leave the club and there would be bidding wars for them from the clubs still remaining in the top flight. At the top of that list were attackers Ranga Chivaviro and winger Katlego Otladisa who have already reportedly signed for Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates respectively.

While Chivaviro and Otladisa were involved in their own transfer saga’s involving Chiefs and Pirates, nobody would’ve seen Sundowns coming in for Nku, even if they had felt that the attacker was worthy to stay in the top division. But last week, in a huge shock to most of the local football fraternity, The Brazilians were believed to have had a bid of R5 million accepted by Gallants, but now it looks like Sekhukhune have come in with a massive bid to try win over the player’s signature.
Sekhukhune close to hijacking Nku’s Sundowns deal?
“There were offers to the team and the player from Sundowns, but he had not signed the deal yet, He was going for medical and fitness tests on Tuesday, the 27th of June. So, all could be finalised if he could pass those tests. However, the offer was R85,000 a month salary initially. And if he plays 10 and more games in his first season it could rise up to R150 000. However, he would also be getting a R25,000 win bonus if he plays four games in a row and they win all those games. Now, here is the twist, Sekhukhune United are back in the picture and they are offering him R100,000 a month with no conditions. His agent is talking to Sekhukhune and the talks are at an advanced stage. It will now all depend on the other issues in the contracts from both teams. But it’s confusing for the player now as Sekhukhune were the first to show interest before Sundowns and now they are back with this offer. It’s a big twist in the whole deal,” said the source to Soccer-Laduma.

So now for Nku it seems like it could be a decision of either fighting for silverware or getting better pay immediately as well as game time.
