Sekhukhune United have announced the signing of Bafana Bafana international Kamohelo Mokotjo.
The 31-year-old has been a free agent since leaving Major League Soccer (MLS) side Cincinnati in November 2021.
However, he’s now put pen to paper on a one-and-a-half-year deal with a one-year option to extend, as reported by iDiski Times on Thursday and confirmed by the club today.
“Sekhukhune United Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Defensive Midfielder Kamohelo “The General” Mokotjo from FC Cincinnati (USA) on a one year and half contract,” the club confirmed in a statement.
Mokotjo left South Africa as a teenager to join the Feyenoord academy in Holland, and this will be his first experience domestically since leaving in 2009.
“I mean, honestly, I’m expecting a lot after being abroad for, I think over a decade,” Mokotjo told the club’s media department.
“I know the league is very unpredictable. And so it’s my responsibility to adapt as quick as possible to adjust whenever I need to adjust.
“But I’m looking forward to the challenge. And I know there are differences between where I played and the PSL but at the end of the day football is football and it’s a challenge.”
