Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena says they won’t be misled by Kaizer Chiefs’ recent defeats as their performances warranted more.
Sundowns, who beat Chiefs 4-0 in the first round, come into the clash at FNB Stadium on Saturday with a 19-point lead over fourth-placed Amakhosi.
While the league leaders have played one game more than Chiefs, their run of 11 straight wins means nothing as they face Arthur Zwane’s wounded side who lost to Sekhukhune United 1-0 at home and 4-0 against AmaZulu in Durban last weekend.
“Chiefs will always be Kaizer Chiefs, a big club, historically, that needs to be given a lot of respect, great players on the pitch. Maybe performances have been much better than the results suggest,” Mokwena said ahead of the clash.
“Based on, if you look at the scorelines against AmaZulu, you will get a wrong impression about the team, if you only look at the result against Sekhukhune, you get the wrong impression about the performance levels of the team.
“They are extremely well organised, clear in their patterns of play, well-drilled schemes and very good players, good coach and a good technical team around them.”
Masandawana will be aiming to achieve a record-winning run in the DStv Premiership when they face off at the Calabash on Saturday evening (20h00).
