Mamelodi Sundowns are set for an extended break as co-coach Rulani Mokwena revealed the first team itinerary for the club’s mid-season interval.
Sundowns are expected to be the last team to return back to training in the new year after giving their players three weeks to spend time with their families.
Sundowns played into a 1-1 draw in their last DStv premiership league match against Marume Gallants in Tshwane on Thursday before going for Christmas break.
The Brazilians return back to the league action on February 16 with a clash against Chippa United at the Loftus stadium.
Masandawana co-coach Rulani Mokwena says their plan for a mini-camp in Europe has been disturbed by travel restrictions due to Covid-19.
“We have a plan in place,” Mokwena revealed.
“We have got a mid-season break which will take three weeks off, we will then resume training on 13 or 14 January,” said Mokwena.
“We will start with medicals and then as soon as we get back we will spend a couple of days at Chloorkop and then resort to a camp.
”We are still ironing out the finer details.
“The initial plan was to go overseas or out of the country but with Covid-19 and all these travel restrictions it makes it difficult.
“So we will be inbound and remain within the borders but still try to make the camp as competitive and as beneficial to the group as possible,” Mokwena added.
Sundowns are expected to announce one or two signings when the transfer window period re-opens next month.
