Royal AM president Shauwn ‘Mam’ Mkhize has explained that she doesn’t follow the norm when it comes to shirt designs and updates, hence her club are playing in the same kit as last season.
Thwihli Thwahla are one of the few clubs who didn’t unveil a new kit ahead of the 2022/23 campaign and are currently also not attached to any big kit manufacturer.
With many fans left wondering, whether Royal AM would still unveil a new kit, iDiski Times reached out to MamMkhize, but she insisted that only at the halfway point of the season a new shirt could be expected.
“I do things my own way, I generally wait for everyone to release their kits. Then, half season I release my kit,” she said in a brief statement.
Mkhize also previously told Robert Marawa that is actually the person who designs the kits for Royal AM and that she’s using a local manufacturer to finalise the shirts.
“Everyone will be shocked, because if I can say I design this. The wing was for an eagle, you know an eagle you don’t find it floating on the floor,” she said Marawa Sports Worldwide recently.
“So in whatever design you’ll see for the Royal AM jersey, you’ll forever see a wing. We’ll change it slightly but we’ll forever keep the wing and I designed the jersey.
“There is a factory in Durban that’s putting together my design once I’ve done it. It’s got Royal AM on this side (left) and on this side (right) it’s got AS for Andile and Shauwn.”
MamMkhize also explained that are in talks with Edgars and sportscene to discuss whether they could sell the Royal AM kits.
