In a heartfelt statement issued from Bizzah Makhete Correctional Centre in Kroonstad, Nandipha Magudumana, has expressed gratitude to her friends and family for their unwavering support during her incarceration.
Magudumana is currently facing multiple charges, including aiding and abetting convicted rapist and murderer Thabo Bester’s escape, defeating the ends of justice, arson, fraud, and violating a corpse.
In her message, Magudumana outlined the difficulties she has faced since her fall from grace stating that she has resorted to finding strength in deep conversations with God during these challenging times.
“I would like to assure you that I am holding on, in faith,”she said.
The embattled Magudumana also addressed different narratives surrounding her arrest asserting that through her legal team, she is aware of many untrue statements made about her.
She, however, resolved to address the matter at a later stage.
Magudumana also acknowledged various productions about her life in progress and clarified her stance: “I’d like to categorically state that if my voice or that of my legal team is not represented, there is likely no truth or credibility to that story.”
She revealed that she had granted exclusive rights to her story to a local black woman-owned production company .
In her closing statements, Magudumana expressed her longing for her children and her determination to fight for their reunion:
“Lastly and most importantly, to my beautiful children, I miss you so much and mommy loves you. Mommy is fighting with everything she has to be with you again. I will see you soon.”
Allegations of inhumane treatment towards Magudumana and her partner Bester emerged from the previous court appearance as highlighted by their legal representatives earlier this month.
The alleged treatment conditions during their detention and transit from Tanzania where they were caught are currently being investigated.
The duo will return to court on October 11.
