International relations and cooperation minister Naledi Pandor questioned the repeated power plant outages, saying they could be interpreted as an attack on the country.
Eskom announced yesterday that 11 units at eight power plants had failed, resulting in power outages lasting up to ten hours per day for South Africans.
It could be interpreted as an “oppositional act against South Africa.com,” she told business executives at a Thursday event in Johannesburg.
Pandor’s remarks echo those of energy minister Gwede Mantashe, who said last month that the power utility appeared to be attempting to destabilize the government.
