Kaizer Chiefs’ Marketing and Commercial Director Jessica Motaung has sent a strong message to the club’s fans and condemned the violent behaviour towards the management and coach Molefi Ntseki.
For a second time this season, Chiefs fans were seen hurling objects at Ntseki, who had to be escorted off the pitch by police.
The incident shocked many onlookers and also the club’s management, with football manager Bobby Motaung seen trying to calm the emotions.
Jessica Motaung followed with a strong statement, saying they are very disappointed with the violent behaviour of a section of the club’s fans.
“We’re very disappointed with what happened yesterday (Wednesday) with the fans – we must say with the group of fans who decided to behave in the way they did,” she told journalists.
“And we must say thank to our fans who are behaving responsible because we have responsible fans.
“But certainly a very disappointing conduct, and for us it’s to say we condemn the violence. The club does not condone violence.”
Instead of reacting with violence, Motaung urged the club’s fans to stick to Ntseki and his team – in good and in bad times.
“It’s so unfortunate after all the hard work the club has done, we’ve signed 10 players, there is a real transformation and revival, not only in the players, but you can see the playing style and team.
“And we think for our supporters it’s really time to rally together and support. Be together with the team and let’s work together towards achieving our objectives.
“So very disappointed about yesterday and we think can we come, we as South Africans must understand that violence is not going to solve our issues, and while we maybe angry and do not understand the situation we rather need to sit together and collaborate.
“We are really looking to our supporters to be supporting our team when we’re going to battle, going to a game like we’re facing this weekend.

“The expectation is regardless of the result, we want to see our supporters saying to the team ‘we rally behind you’, supporting the coach, supporting the players to do their jobs.”
Chiefs are next in action on Saturday when they will face Mamelodi Sundowns in the second leg of their MTN8 semi-final.
