Sekhukhune United are in the process of finalising their new head coach after their initial deal for Morena Ramoreboli fell through at the final stages of talks.
Sekhukhune looked set to secure the South African coach who has made waves with Jwaneng Galaxy over the past two seasons.
Having held talks with more than 10 candidates, Ramoreboli emerged as the prime target over Fernando Da Cruz, who has since joined Kaizer Chiefs as an assistant coach.
iDiski Times has been informed the move fell through this weekend after disagreements with the mandate to remain in the top-four next season, with Ramoreboli now expected to remain with the Botswana Premier League champions.
Marumo Gallants, who are reportedly on the verge of securing Moroka Swallows’ top-flight status has also emerged as admirers, but at this stage, it’s unclear if the 2021 Cosafa Cup-winning coach would entertain the approach.
Babina Noko proposed an offer to Da Cruz after their expected deal for Ramoreboli fell through but missed out to Kaizer Chiefs, where he’s now signed a two-year deal with an option to extend as their new first assistant coach to incoming Nasreddine Nabi.
Nabi confirmed after their win over Mas Fes in the Throne Cup semi-final that Da Cruz was in talks for a move to the DStv Premiership, before the Chiefs approach was made.
