Round 22 of the Hollywoodbets Super League was overshadowed by two matches scheduled for the King Zwelithini Stadium being cancelled for safety reasons this weekend.
This follows disruptions by a crowd that came to the match venue carrying firearms. After a meeting with the stakeholders involving stadium management, SAFA and the national Broadcaster which was going to stream the matches between Royal AM and City Lads as well as Durban Ladies and TS Galaxy a decision was reached to cancel the double header in consideration of everyone’s safety. A new date for these matches will be announced by SAFA in due course.
Meanwhile University of Western Cape extended their lead at the top of the table with a 2-0 win over First Touch Academy in Polokwane. The victory sees them maintain top spot with 57 points from 21 matches a seven-point lead over Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies behind them, while the Limpopo based Academy lies in 10th place with 24 points from 21 games.
