Being a coach in any sport around the world is not an easy job, because when the results are not going your way the blame is all on you. In the world of soccer, it is more difficult as they are always the first people looked at when things are not as they should.
Something former Kaizer Chiefs Football Club player and head coach, Steve Khompela understand well, the 54-year-old who played for Amakhosi back in 1993 started his coaching career back in 2002 with the now-defunct Manning Rangers Football Club.
So far he managed to coach at least ten, Premier Soccer League(PSL) excluding Chiefs and South African national u-20 and senior teams. In his 20th year as a professional coach, he has managed to win only two trophies(the MTN8 and Dstv Premiership League Championship) both with his current team, Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club.

Despite his recent success with the Brazilians, the master tactician had some difficulties with the clubs he managed in the past with the Phefeni Glamour Boys being on top of the list.
During his three-year spell at Chiefs which was from 2015 to 2018, he was forced to vacate his position as the club’s head coach after fans stormed the pitch at Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban gunning for his head.
After redeeming himself at Lamontville Golden Arrows Football Club, Sundowns came for him and followed by success.
His successes with the club have seen him land a deal with Kentucky Fried Chicken(KFC), he posted a KFC advertisement of himself on his Instagram account @khompelasteve showing his acting skill and also advertising KFC.
I think Chiefs were wrong to let him leave at that time he left the club, because he had the important task of rebuilding the team and he was doing so.
Congratulations Mr. Khompela on your recent successes, and we wish you could have more going forward.
