Cyril ramaphosa and his allies finally exposed
Mail & Guardian did an interesting analysis showing how top ANC leadership from president Cyril Ramaphosa to some of his allies benefitted their families from dodgy and questionable projects.
This analysis is interesting because for the longest of times there were some ANC leaders like Ace Magashule who were hounded down by the media as evils benefitting their families and are now hated by public while some are media darlings such as Cyril Ramaphosa and his cabal are portrayed as angels.
President Cyril Ramaphosa from 2007 to 2019 is said to have benefited his family especially his son Andile Ramaphosa through the Bosasa millions.
At one point, expelled EFF leader who is now the president of Black First Land First Andile Mngxitama argued that Cyril Ramaphosa lied to parliament about the Bosasa money even though sources had revealed he and his family did actually benefitted from the Bosasa millions.
Another ally of Cyril Ramaphosa Jessie Duarte also has her own skeletons in the closets. In 2018, the ANC deputy secretary general Jessie Duarte admitted that her son-in-law, Ian Whitley, “made a mistake to accept” a position in the office of four-day former finance minister Des van Rooyen.
Duarte was responding to allegations that her children work for the controversial family.
In 2015, minister of Mineral Resources Gwede Mantashe’s son, Buyambo Mantashe benefitted from the Eastern Cape R631 million toilet tender.
Lindiwe Zulu’s son, Boitumelo Zulu was also part of the Eastern Cape R631 million toilet tender.
ANC’s Treasurer General Paul Mashatile also in 2005 when he was the Gauteng finance MEC, he connected his daughter, Palesa Mashatile with tenders in the Gauteng province.
All these scandals of Cyril Ramaphosa’s allies seem to have been swept under the carpet, and those scandals of those aligned to the faction of former president Jacob Zuma are the ones being pursued.
For instance, Ace Magashule is in and out of the court’s following his R255 million asbestos tender project which took place during the time he was Free State Premier which is still haunting him.
Former Health minister Dr Zweli Mkhize has his own Digital Vibes irregular tender which really forced him to resign after pressure was mounting on him to do so.
Former president Jacob Zuma’s relationship with the Gupta’s which allegedly led to state capture is one of the reasons why he is in prison after sentenced by Constitutional Court for contempt of court for his refusal to appear before Zondo Commission to testify about the capture of the state by Gupta’s during his time as president.
