Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu FC meet this evening at the FNB Stadium and both teams have confirmed their starting XIs ahead of the game.
Both sides came to this game with their tails up following their MTN8 quarter-final wins. Amakhosi and Usuthi both booked their spot into the semi-final of MTN8 last weekend, but both also lost their league games before the cup game.
AmaZulu were beaten 1-0 by their rivals Lamontville Golden Arrows, which was their first defeat of the season, while Chiefs lost 2-0 to Cape Town City, which was already their third loss of the season.
Chiefs defender S’fiso Hlanti returned following his long injury against Stellies and gave some insights into his side’s mentality.
“When you play for Chiefs, it’s a brand, we all know, each and every game is like a cup final, there’s no easy game or one you can take for granted,” Hlanti told journalists.
“So the attitude starts here at training and the guys are doing well, we’ve got new faces in the team and they gelling well [with us]. So those are the key things, I think will make this team go far.
“There’s nothing much [new I can bring]. Like I said I’m not bigger than this team or this game of football – my attitude tells the most.
“And you can’t run away from that, I can’t do miracles, we lose as a team, we win as a team. So if the team doesn’t do well it comes back to us and we need to respond to that.”
The last two encounters between the sides ended as 1-1 draws and produced two red cards.
A win for Ephefeni glamour boys could see them jumping up to the sixth place, meanwhile, a win for Usuthu could see them going up to the top of the table.
