Notably absent from the NEC is former ANCWL president Bathabile Dlamini, who failed to secure a top-five position at the League’s 13th elective conference.
This marks the second time she has been overlooked, as she was also not elected to the ANC’s overall national NEC during the December 2022 55th elective conference. Despite the snub, Dlamini expressed her full confidence in the newly elected top five leadership and pledged her support to them.
She praised ANCWL President Sisisi Tolashe as a seasoned leader and expressed her belief that Tolashe would effectively lead the Women’s League in their pursuit of women’s liberation and emancipation.
In a statement to SurgeZirc SA, Dlamini affirmed her commitment to work, assist, and provide guidance to the newly elected top five leaders. She acknowledged their new strategy and journey to improve the lives of women across the country.
Meanwhile, the League’s top five emphasized the importance of their role as advocates for women’s aspirations and urged those elected to remain focused on their duty to the women of the nation.
