Based on the posts from their official Instagram account, it appears that Kaizer Chiefs have resumed training as of this past Saturday morning.
While Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United are reportedly “close” to an agreement, the Kaizer Chiefs are likely to miss out on their midfield target.
A fan favorite was spotted at the Chiefs’ first training session of the year, which took place at the Kaizer Chiefs Village in Naturena.
As keen Chiefs watched the video of their team starting to get ready for the second half of the season, they saw someone who looked a little different. Dumisani Zuma, a fan favorite, returned to football activities at the club, which doubled the excitement of the watching Amakhosi followers.
The film also included a number of other Chiefs starters in addition to Zuma, including Kearyn Baccus, Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Eric Mathoho, Lazarous Kambole, Reeve Frosler, Njabulo Ngcobo, Happy Mashiane, Austin Dube, Brandon Pietersen, Lebogang Manyama, and Sibusiso Mabiliso. Khama Billiat, who would have been the group’s most recognizable face if he hadn’t retired from international football, was not present because he was abroad at the African Cup of Nations with the Zimbabwean Warriors.
In addition to Itumeleng Khune, goalie Bruce Bvuma was featured in the film; both players have been chosen to compete in this month’s inaugural DStv Compact Cup. Keagan Dolly, Sabelo Radebe, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Njabulo Ngcobo, Njabulo Blom, and young Diski Challenge prospect Mduduzi Shabalala are also set to participate for the Chiefs in that competition.
An agent for Target has confirmed that the company is expecting an official offer soon.
Fans of Kaizer Chiefs FC will be crossing their fingers for the safety of their team’s players as they attempt to catch up to Mamelodi Sundowns in the DStv Premiership when play starts in February. Speculation suggests the squad may have been bolstered before the league’s resumption. The club has not yet made an official statement about Zuma’s return, but his appearance likely means that his suspension for an alleged drunk driving incident has ended.
Multiple players have been mentioned as possible January acquisitions for the Chiefs. Among those people, Siyethemba Sithebe stands out. It is widely believed that the Amazulu midfielder, a lifelong fan of the Amakhosi, has already signed with the team.
