Al-Nassr Sporting Director Marcelo Salazar has admitted he is not allowed to comment on speculation linking Cristiano Ronaldo with a move to the Saudi Arabian side.
Ronaldo, 37, is understood to be close to joining the Saudi Pro League side.
According to Marca, he has been offered a seven-year deal, which includes two-and-a-half years as player and the rest as ambassador for the 2030 joint-World Cup bid of Saudi Arabia, Greece and Egypt.
The deal would see him earn €200 million per season as a player and even more each year as ambassador, with Ronaldo said to close to agreeing to the deal amid a lack of interest in his services from clubs in Europe.
He became a free agent after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract with Manchester United following his bombshell interview with piers Morgan.
Al-Nassr are reportedly keen on wrapping up Ronaldo’s signing before the turn of the year and the opening of the January transfer window.
However, Salazar, who is a countryman of the Portuguese superstar, has stated he cannot give any insights into the negotiations, because “higher authorities” are involved.
“I’m not allowed to say yes or no. Let’s wait and see how things unfold until the end of the year,” he told Flashscore.
“As you must realise this is a negotiation that has a huge magnitude, not only for the club, but for the country and for world football, and it has to be conducted by higher authorities.
“What I can say is that Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best in the history of football.
“He has always been an example to me as an athlete, for the will he shows to win. And then, as a Portuguese citizen, I always cheered for him.
“But when the time is right the future will be revealed.”
