The deputy president of the country, David Mabuza, has been named a prime suspect in a major organised crime investigation, earning him the moniker “Land Scam Kingpin.”
The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse filed a criminal complaint with the NPA Investigating Directorate on the morning of December 5, 2022, as required by the Prevention of Organised Crime Act. The allegation names Deputy President DD Mabuza as the main suspect.
There is a broad spectrum of alleged misconduct between 2002 and the present day, with much of it having to do with the so-called “land claims scam” and the case of environmentalist and whistle-blower Fred Daniel.
The “lost dockets” have never before been provided in a single affidavit, but they are now included with every other aspect of the case. Additionally, the lawsuit includes “hotlinks” to the following supporting documents:
The proposed charges under Section 2(1)(d) of the Prevention of Organised Crime Act 121 of 1988 (POCA) are for “acquiring or maintaining, directly or indirectly, any involvement in, or control over, the following criminal enterprises.
This line, which starts the criminal charge Outa filed with the Investigating Directorate of the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), could be taken to mean that Deputy President DD “The Cat” Mabuza was out of options.
On the morning of December 5, 2022, an affidavit was filed that named Mabuza as the main suspect among fifteen others who were allegedly involved in two criminal schemes that cost the South African economy over R35 billion, according to a report written by retired judge Willem Heath in 2015.
