The ANC NEC meeting kicked off on Friday, but many were disappointed with the photos coming of out the meeting which shows that a larger percentage of those in the NEC should be on pension already.
Many NEC members are above 60 years, and critics argue that it cannot be fair that pensioners continue to make decisions for the younger generation because they are now out of touch with reality and must be at home looking after their grandchildren.
Mfoka Jobe, an RET comrade in the Kwa-Zulu Natal province said most NEC members must go on pension, and give the younger generation a chance to lead the movement.
“They must all go on pension, young people must be sober now,” said Mfoka Jobe. The ANC NEC is also being accused by party members of failing to make an impact over the past years they have been in power. They said even after their incompetence, these people still want to be elected into power for the next five years.
“ANC NEC, all these people: didn’t implement a single resolution in the past five years. They failed on service delivery, watched unemployment rise, sold SoEs, loadshedding, loans, fuel hikes. Never said a word about Nuclear vs IPPs. Kept quiet on GBV, crime, massive corruption.”
ANC veteran, Carl Niehaus argues that the report by the ANC Integrity Commission is pathetic in the extreme as it doesn’t spell out what sanction they will impose on Cyril Ramaphosa for violating the laws.
“The Integrity Commission is reneging on its mandate. Like Pontius Pilate they are literally washing their hands off ANC, while it is going up in smoke. True ANC members can never accept this,” he said.
He adds that the NEC no longer has integrity as they wanted to sneak Integrity Commission Report through without too much attention and fanfare, but now that it is out they claim that it does not have ‘official’ status.
