The Springboks bounced back after last weekend’s disappointing defeat to Australia in emphatic fashion courtesy of tries from Damian de Allende, Franco Mostert, debutant Canan Moodie and try-machine Makazole Mapimpi.
No love lost between the Springboks and Wallabies
Players from both sides let their emotions get the better of them after Makazole Mapimpi dotted down in the corner to to put the game beyond the hosts in the 72nd minute in Sydney. Mapimpi was eventually shown a yellow card for his part in the scuffle when he clashed with Marika Koroibete directly after scoring his 22nd try in a Green & Gold jersey.
Today’s 8-24 success at the Allianz Stadium was a first win on Australian soil for the Springboks since 2013 and their first win in Sydney since 2012. It’s also a victory that blows the Rugby Championship wide open once more.
