Luvuyo Memela aims to replicate the form he showed at AmaZulu in the past two seasons at his new club Richards Bay FC.
Memela, despite being the star player at AmaZulu last term, was released at the end of the season, after both parties could not agree on the new terms. The former Orlando Pirates winger has since been signed by Bay, who have handed him a one-contract with one option to renew.
Usuthu president Sandile Zungu said the reason why they departed with players like Memela was because they are trying to cut the age limit in the side. Even though that was the case, Memela was one of the stars of Usuthu last term, being the only player to score goals (two) in the club’s maiden CAF Champions League group stages.
“There’s not much difference even though I just changed the location,” Memela told the iDiski Times.

“I have the same goals every season. As a player you must have goals and say ‘this season I want this’. I know it is not going to be easy because the team has just been promoted from the Motsepe Foundation.
“But I will continue to do what I have been doing all the time, and also support the guys. But what is important for me is to play and have fun.”
There were talks that Memela, at AmaZulu, was asking too much money to see out his contract renewed, but the former Cape Town All Stars winger has denied that.
“I won’t say it was a lot of money [I asked], there is too much into it,” said Memela.
“It is not true that I was asking a lot of money from AmaZulu and I didn’t even ask the offer from them [because they decided to release me] so it’s not even that.
“But such things do happen in football, and there are lots of things people won’t understand. But for me I’m happy to be here.”
When Usuthu held their annual awards, Memela stole the show, claiming three awards, being named Playmaker of the Season, Top Goal Scorer and Players’ Player of the Season.
However, Memela missed the awards and admitted he didn’t know he had won awards, only being informed by a few players at the Usuthu.
