Moja Love CEO, Aubrey Tau, and newly appointed Sizok’thola presenter, Xolani Maphanga, have reportedly gone into hiding after receiving death threats from an alleged Russian drug lord.
The duo was alerted to the danger by private investigators, who discovered that hitmen had been hired to kill them.

The threats came after the Sizok’thola crew shot an episode in Lanseria, where they uncovered a drug lab and equipment used for manufacturing illegal substances.
Law enforcement abruptly abandoned the scene following a mysterious call from their superiors, leaving Tau and Maphanga concerned for their safety.
Recent events have only heightened their fears. Tau encountered a suspicious individual near his Johannesburg home, who turned out to have connections to the alleged drug lord in Lanseria. As a result, Tau has filed a case with the Sandton police station.
Despite the threats, Moja Love remains determined not to be intimidated. Nonzwakazi Cekete, the channel’s spokesperson, stated that they will not back down from exposing those who contribute to the drug problem in their communities.

This is not the first time that Tau and a Sizok’thola presenter have faced death threats. In 2023, while Xolani Khumalo was still the host, drug lords were also targeting them. The involvement of rogue police officers was suspected at that time.
