Another major burst pipe has been reported by Johannesburg Water this afternoon, Thursday, 12 October at Melville Koppies in Johannesburg.
JOHANNESBURG WATER MENTIONS AFFECTED AREAS BY THE BURST PIPE IN MELVILLE
Johannesburg Water informed the residents that a team was attending to the major burst pipe at Melville Koppies.
Affected areas include Emmarentia and Greenside.
There is no estimated time of completion at this stage, the entity cautioned the affected suburbs.
CUSTOMERS REMINDED OF WATER RESTRICTIONS
Meanwhile, the entity recently reminded its customers about level-1 water restrictions that are currently in full force.
The entity also reminded the residents about the importance of adhering to the water restrictions as supply challenges worsened.
“It is critical to use water sparingly as water conservation remains a strong priority in the city, to ensure sustainable water supply,” the entity cautioned.
Level-1 Water restrictions run from 1 September to 31 March, annually. The restrictions are due to increasing water consumption caused by warmer weather and lack of rain.
WHY ADHERING TO WATER RESTRICTIONS IS IMPERATIVE
Now more than ever, the entity advised it is imperative that we change our habits when it comes to water use.
“We can make a difference by introducing one small change a day,” said the entity.
Having committed to providing sustainable water, the entity warned water restrictions will be enforced by fines to customers who contravene the Water Services By-Law.
This is a developing story. An update will be published as and when new information is available.
