Kaizer Chiefs legend Doctor Khumalo says Ashley Du Preez was the only Amakhosi player who had a good performance against Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Glamour Boys got knocked out by Masandawana, losing the second leg of their MTN8 semi-final 2-1 and 3-2 on aggregate, but not without controversy, as they had a late penalty shout.
Peter Shalulile scored in the first and last minute of the first half, while Du Preez had netted the equaliser from the penalty spot.
After the match, Khumalo analysed his former club’s performance, saying many players were left wanting, with only Du Preez impressing him.
“Ashley he’s the only player that I can single out to say ‘what a great performance’,” he said on SABC Sport.
“He’s giving you attack, he’s defending. He’s saved a situation where it was a counter-attack, all the way he sprinted and cleared the ball.
“This are the problems of the game, he could see ‘if I don’t sprint and save the situation, clearly they are going to score.”
Du Preez has now scored three goals in competitions for Kaizer Chiefs, the joint-most for Amakhosi alongside Edson Castillo and Pule Mmodi.
