Lamontville Golden Arrows have released winger Andile Fikizolo.
Fikizolo, who was in his second stint with the club, parted ways with the club after he had a meeting with Arrows chairlady Mato Madlala, iDiski Times has learnt. Â
The former Thanda Royal Zulu attacker re-joined Arrows ahead of the 2021/22 season after Bloemfontein Celtic was sold to Shauwn Mkhize to form Royal AM in the top flight.
Last season, the 29-year-old featured rarely, with only two starts of the five games he played, equating 165 minutes in total.
Those numbers weren’t strong enough to convince the club to see him remain with the side, which led to him having a decisive meeting with the clubs hierarchy.
Fikizolo helped Arrows to gain PSL top-flight promotion in the 2014/15 season, arriving in the second half on loan from SuperSport United, scoring six goals in the process.
It was at the time when he joined the club with Mabhuti Khenyeza, who fired seven as Shaun Bartlett’s boys won the Motsepe Foundation Championship title to gain promotion.
He moved to Royal Eagles, MaMkhize’s previous club, and spent two seasons with Celtic between 2019 and 2021.
He was with Celtic when they lost the Nedbank Cup final to Mamelodi Sundowns in the 2019/20 season and the MTN8 against Orlando Pirates in the following season.
He won the TKO trophy with SuperSport in the 2014/15 against Platinum Stars, but he was only fit to be in the stands.
The 29-year-old, who was part of Owen da Gama’s side for Mzansi’s 2016 Olympics Games in Rio in Brazil, follows Pule Mmodi and Saziso Magawana – while Ntsako Mabkhubela’s loan from then-club Orlando Pirates expired.
