According to Ntshavheni, the world has entered an uncertain future with various risks, including shifts in the geopolitical environment, rising military tensions, and trade and investment relations.
She expressed concern over the effectiveness of the previously accepted global order, which now faces significant challenges. During her speech, Ntshavheni highlighted several emerging threats that BRICS member states must collectively address.
These include international terrorism, radicalization, violent extremism, drug trafficking, proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and transnational crimes such as financial crimes, money laundering, and unconstitutional changes of governments.
She stressed that the global nature of these security issues disregards borders, making them prone to cross-border impact and potentially destabilizing countries’ stability and security.
The meeting served as a crucial opportunity for national security advisers from BRICS nations to enhance their collaboration on security matters.
Ntshavheni underscored the significance of BRICS as a platform for member states to raise and collectively tackle their national security concerns and other security-related issues.
Ntshavheni further expressed her concerns over the increasing trend of countries adopting inward-looking positions despite the evolving global realities.
